The Undeniable Power of Prayer

“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”  James 5:16

It is undeniable that through prayer we encounter an incredible power that can meet all our needs. The bible says in Ephesians 3:20, “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.” Just like a phone line has to be activated in order to produce communicate between two parties; so too, prayer activates two-way communication between God and man! When we pray, power is released from heaven because God the Father is a living power source!

God introduced himself to Abraham in Genesis 17:1 as the “Almighty that has all power; everything both animate and inanimate are subject to Him and are under His control!” The Almighty God to whom we pray is indeed omnipotent and can handle any and every situation . . . NOTHING can intimidate Him!  Jeremiah 32:27 says, “Behold, I am the Lord, the God of all flesh: is there anything too hard for me?” When we pray, we are deliberately inviting God to take our situation over; as He does, all impossibility becomes possible; “for with God NOTHING shall be impossible,” Luke 1:37.

When Solomon dedicated the temple, he prayed to God to open shut heavens, to give rain when there was no rain, to heal death, to stop pestilence, locust and all forms of sickness; and God undeniably responded and sent His power upon Solomon’s prayers (2 Chronicles 6:26-28 & 7:12-14.

God hungers His children, to also experience His undeniable power; that is why in Jeremiah 33:3, He instructed us to “call unto me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”

Jesus both comprehended and practiced the “undeniable power of prayer.” Luke 9:29 says, “And as he (Jesus) prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.”

Jesus was one who experienced the “indisputable power of prayer.” Others include:
1. The children of Israel (Exodus 3:7)
2. Jabez (1 Chronicles 4:9-10)
3. Elijah (1Kings 18:24)
4. Hannah (1 Samuel 1:9-11)
5. Jehoshaphat (2 Chronicles 20:1-5-12)
6. David (1 Samuel 30:8)
7. King Hezekiah (2 Kg.20:1-6)
8. The Disciples (Acts 4:23-31)
9. The Church (Acts 12:5)
10. Peter (Acts 9:34)

Like Jesus, the children of Israel, and others, you too can enjoy the undeniable power of prayer  . . . . but you MUST PRAY in order to do so! Many of us talk about it, read about it and yet do nothing about it. We do not pray as we ought! Brethren it is time to get down on your knees to pray as scripture instructs so that we too can enjoy this same tremendous and undeniable power from heaven (1Thess.5:17). We deny ourselves the experience of this great privilege and the resulting magnificent power when we do not take the time to pray!!

During this prophetic month of September, let us experience the “undeniable power of prayer”; open up your “line of communication” with God through a regular time of prayer, and as you do so, He will assuredly answer and give you “undeniable” testimonies in the powerful and mighty name of Jesus!
