Walking In Dominion

“Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” -Lk. 10:19

Dominion is defined as the power or right of governing and controlling. It also means to rule, control, dominate, be in charge and have authority.

The trinity lives in dominion and after creating, man gave him the mandate of dominion. The Bible says in Gen. 1:26 “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” God created man to live in natural and spiritual dominion, to willpower and authority over the devil and his principalities. God also made man to have dominion over situations and circumstances of life. Man was not created to be dominated and frustrated by the devil and circumstances of life. Devil is meant to fear man and not the other way round. God blessed man to dominate and cut covenant of dominion with him both in the old and new covenants. God blessed Noah and his sons to dominate (Gen. 9:1-2). The children of Israel lived a life of dominion in Egypt. The Bible says in Exodus 1:7 “And the children of Israel were fruitful, and increased abundantly, and multiplied, and waxed exceeding mighty, and the land was filled with them.” Daniel lived a life of dominion and was officially called the “Master” of astrologers, magicians, Chaldeans and soothsayers (Dan. 5:11).

Adam lost his God-given dominion to Satan due to disobedience but Jesus, the second Adam came to the world to restore man’s dominion. At Calvary Jesus regain the lost dominion(Col. 2:14-15). In hell Jesus triumphed over the devil and took the keys of death and Hades from him (Rev. 1:18) When Jesus rose from the death, he declared in Mt. 28:18 “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.” Jesus then handed this dominion over to us believers. Jesus said believers will manifest in their lives as  signs. Jesus said in Mk. 16:17 -18 “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”

One was not surprised that Jesus disciples and apostles walked in strange dominion. The disciples testified about their dominion over the devil (Lk. 10:17), the shadow of Peter healed the sick (Act. 5:15-16), Philip was supernaturally transported to Azotus (Act. 8:39-40), Paul cheated death and the viper could not kill him (Act. 28:3-6)

For us to walk in dominion we will have to do the following

  1. Be born again. Jn.1:12, 1Jn.4:4
  2. Have knowledge of your dominion. Dan. 11:32, Hos. 4:6b, Eph.3:17-19
  3. Be Prayerful. Acts 12:5-11
  4. Walk by faith. Eph. 6:16
  5. Bring every thought and imagination to the obedience of God. 2Cor.10:5-7
  6. Walk in holiness. Prov.28:1, Josh. 7:10-12, Hos. 14:1
  7. Use the name of Jesus. Mk.16:17, Phil. 2:9-11

As we do the above, God will give us unending dominion in Jesus name.

As God’s children are you walking in dominion or are you being dominated by the devil and circumstances of life?

This month of October is our prophetic month of dominion, it is time to rise up and dominate what has been dominating you.
